About Me

Having experienced the challenges of depression, anxiety and disordered eating over an extensive period, my personal journey towards maximizing life's potential fueled my deep curiosity for well-being, mental health, and effective stress coping mechanisms. It was only through embracing a holistic approach to health—engaging in mindfulness practices, undergoing personal therapy, and refining my relationship with food and exercise—that I achieved a sense of balance.

My commitment to well-being began with the attainment of a degree in Psychological Counselling from BahçeÅŸehir University in Istanbul, followed by focused studies in nutritional theories at The Institute for Integrative Nutrition to enhance my comprehension of the intricate relationship between nutrition and overall well-being. Subsequently, I completed a Master of Science from University College London (UCL), specializing in Eating Disorders and Clinical Nutrition within the Division of Medicine. Upon my return to İstanbul, I completed my second masters degree at İstanbul Kent University in the field of Clinical Psychology. During my tenure in London, I actively contributed to a multidisciplinary team, directly engaging with adolescents grappling with eating disorders and other mental health issues.

Upon returning to Istanbul, I embarked on clinical work in various government hospitals, addressing a spectrum of mental health issues, encompassing obsessive compulsive disorder, generalized anxiety, and clinical depression. My professional trajectory evolved towards collaborative efforts within a multi-disciplinary team, focusing on treating individuals with eating disorders in conjunction with psychiatrists at the American Hospital. Concurrently, I gained valuable experience as a co-therapist, conducting group therapy for in-patients with eating disorders at the Moodist Psychiatric Hospital. For the past several years, I have been providing therapeutic services in my private practice, Vital Habits. Here, I offer individualized therapy utilizing an eclectic approach that integrates various modalities, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based approaches. Recognizing the multifaceted nature of certain mental health disorders, I collaborate closely with registered eating disorder nutritionists and psychiatrists to ensure comprehensive care for my clients.

Additional Information:

My recent certifications include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) training from CBT Istanbul, and specialized training on CBT-E, enhancing cognitive behavioral therapy for eating disorders, at the Center for Research on Eating Disorders at Oxford University,  as well as CBT Training for children and adolescents. Further, I received online training from Dr. Marsha Linehan, the founder of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), focusing on integrating skills-based approaches into my practice.

I maintain a commitment to continuous education, completing courses such as Motivational Interviewing by William Miller, Stephen Rollnick & Theresa Moyers, and Schema Therapy training.
